The business,
in order.
Diwaan keeps the shop's trading record on a phone: every sale, payment, debt and return written down once, in the goods and money actually exchanged, and closed every evening against what is counted.
The counter, the credit book and the evening count.
Double entry runs underneath and is never shown at the counter. The person selling sees items, customers and money.
Sell in two or three taps
Find the item by name, sell, and take cash, a wallet or bank payment, or put it on the customer's debt. The till works with or without the network, and each sale is saved on the phone before the screen says it is recorded.
Credit (deyn) that adds up
A running balance for every customer and supplier. A part payment goes against the balance. A return cancels the debt first, and only the part that was actually paid goes back as cash.
Close the day
Count the cash and the wallets against what Diwaan expects. Every difference, and every amount of cash taken out, is recorded with a name.
Nothing is deleted.
A mistake is corrected by a reversal that carries a name and a reason, so the history stays as it happened. Each cash drawer, wallet and bank account is its own balance, in its own currency.
- Every amount carries its currency, and every quantity its unit.
- A wallet payment says "Recorded", never "Confirmed by the provider". The reference is typed by hand.
- Every sale record says "Sale record, not a tax receipt".
- Cashiers use a PIN on a phone the manager has enrolled. Prices, stock counts and other manager work need a manager's password.
By invitation, with the manager present.
Diwaan is not open to everyone yet. Each business is set up together with its manager.
Set up the shop
We start from the shop's tax certificate, with its TIN and how it is taxed, and from the items and prices the shop already sells.
Open the till
Install it on a phone the shop owns. The manager enrols the phone and sets each cashier's PIN in person.
Close the day
Count the cash, close the day, and read the difference, if any, with its reason.
